Luxurious getaway

The house was fantastic and the hosts could not have been better - best AirBnB experience I’ve ever had! The house was even more beautiful than the pictures, and was the most well-equipped I’ve seen for a rental property. Great kitchen, cozy living space and comfortable beds - and a hot tub! We were there for a group cabin weekend and couldn’t have asked for more. The hosts were so quick in responding to messages and helpful in answering questions/giving tips about an approaching storm. Hope to rent again in the summer months!

Even better than we had hoped!

We were a group of 8 looking for a relaxing NYE weekend getaway, and this rustic but luxurious cabin ended up being perfect for us! It is even more beautiful than the pictures let on, if you can believe that. The interior design is amazing - every item in the cabin fits with the rustic chic theme, and there are so many thoughtful touches - from the soft cozy blankets everywhere for curling up on sofas, to the luxurious steam shower in the master bathroom, the comfortable beds and bedding, fireplaces galore (two indoor, two outdoor, and a fire pit back by the ricer), beach towels at the ready on the porch for enjoying the hot tub, lovely sparkling lights lining the wraparound porch and gracing the mantel and staircase (giving it a holiday feel) - we could go on and on. The bedrooms were all well appointed and comfortable, and all of the bathrooms felt modern and luxurious. There was no cell service, but the WiFi worked fine for what we needed (it was nice to disconnect a bit, and when we wanted to watch a movie on the projector screen we just had everyone put their phones on airplane mode and that allowed us to stream fairly well). We appreciated the board games available, and also really enjoyed the pool table and dart board. We also had one particularly nice day where we were able to sit outside around the gas fireplace table after going on a hike up the mountain, and that was lovely -- the outside living areas at this cabin are great, and there's almost as much outdoor living space as indoor (we want to go back in the summer so we can fully enjoy it!). The owners are very pleasant and easy to get in touch with, and gave us all of the information we needed to enjoy our stay. We were particularly impressed by the welcome gift they left us, with a hand-written note -- very thoughtful. Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing escape from city life.

Unique and Luxurious

I have used Airbnb in many different cities and have generally always had a great stay. However, I would recommend and come back to this special cabin time and time again. There was nothing that could have been better (except maybe the wifi) and you can tell that Stephen and Mary have taken the time and put in the investment to make this home feel comfortable, luxurious, and unique. This space feels perfect for family gatherings, friend hangouts, entertaining many guests, or relaxing by the fire. Every feature and amenity is of the highest quality and satisfies any want or need. I will definitely return and hope it is soon!

Outstanding Luxury Country Home with all the bells and whistles!

We have never been to West Virginia and our family always wanted to visit for Thanksgiving week. When we started searching through the pages this home stood out among all the rest with the rustic meets luxury feel. It truly met all our expectations with spending quality time with our family. The children were able play in the tree house and walk to the river. So many amenities to list and we also enjoyed both inside/outside fireplaces roasting marshmallows. This is the perfect home for making memories and can't wait to return!

Awesome experience - Worth a visit!

A river stream in the backyard facing the mountains, a real tree house, hanging bridge, an incredible house. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I am an avid traveler and my best vacation turned out to be just three hours away! Not to mention, the owners are great hosts.

Absolutely loved this property. Plenty of room. Porch life was good. Access to trails, river, golf, lawn games. There is definitely privacy but there are neighbors within a few hundred yards and must be considered.

This place has it all!

We couldn’t have picked a better place to spend labor day weekend. There were 4 couples/families in our group and we were a little skeptical at first of the cost, but it was well worth it! We never felt crowded, had plenty of seating areas, dining space, outdoor relaxation spots. The kitchen was well stocked and the cooler in the basement provided extra space for cold stuff. Plus there are coolers on the porch. Features we absolutely loved: the wrap around porch, the large comfortable seating area on the deck (although we hardly even used it), the views Everywhere, the pool/hot tub was a huge hit, unfortunately the jets were dead but i think that’s probably from people forgetting to turn the pump off when not in use, the campfire ring, we loved the Farmer’s Daughter market and The River House cafe just about 20-30 min away... so many wonderful things to enjoy. We got in the river after it rained, but it was a bit rough - definitely need shoes. We even found a guitar we tuned up and got serenaded by one of our guests. Some of us hiked to the mountain, that is a very easy hike from the house, but you should call ahead because the neighbors can be particular about strangers wandering on their property. Cell service and wifi are pretty terrible, but you’re not there for internet and there’s a phone for use inside the house. Every chair and couch was comfortable (except maybe the church pew on the porch hahaha). All in all, the Bauers have done a tremendous job trying to think of everything and they were extremely helpful and responsive about every question and concern we had. We all look forward to coming back!

Magical getaway in a perfect location with ALL the amenities!

My husband, 2 teenagers and toddler stayed at this beautiful home for a relaxing mini vacation. I can't even describe how beautiful it was - it felt like every single piece of the home was hand crafted. The furniture and beds were lovely and comfortable. There were many comfy blankets provided, so our teenagers took their daily naps by the fire all wrapped up. Beautiful living room with a large stone wood burning fireplace. We enjoyed the steam shower - so relaxing! :) Our toddler LOVED the tree house out back and looking at the river. We hiked the Ice Mountain trail up to Raven’s Rocks. We had a fire outside and roasted marshmallows. We watched a movie on the large projector screen in the basement. Played a lot of pool and darts. It was a wonderful time and we'll definitely be back!

Ice Mountain Getaway

We are two families split between Pittsburgh and DC and were looking for a midpoint location to reconnect and enjoy each other. We found the perfect spot a the Mountainaire. While it is very remote, it was perfect to support lots of laughter, story telling, catching up and disconnecting from normal life for the long Memorial day weekend. The house was just right for our group of 12 adults and we used every bit of the house. We could not have asked for anything more. The complete screened in wrap around porch was our favorite as we ate our meals on the wonderful farm table, used the sleeping beds on the west for reading and on the east side built a fire for s'mores and used that as the gallery for the corn hole tournament on the lawn. The lower deck with the conversation pit around the propane fire table and and infinity pool served as a great respite area after our hikes up Ice Mountain. That is a must if you go during the spring and early summer when the cold vents are spilling air onto the footpaths. I still do not understand the geology behind that but truly fascinating. Inside the house we had all we needed in the fully stocked kitchen. I am looking for one of those Coke chest refrigerators in the lower level, which chilled all our beverages. We even watched a movie on the projection screen. It is clear the Owner's value making a place where their guests can relax and unplug. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
